In 2017, the Inhanding Tribal Multipurpose Cooperative’s (ITMPC) Typica won the Arabica category in the Kape Pilipino Green Coffee Quality Competition. In the same year, the Inhandig tribe represented the Philippines at the Global Specialty Coffee Expo in Seattle, Washington. After these feats, the community received benefits in the following years—a roasting machine from DTI and a plastic dryer closed facility from the DENR-Integrated Natural Resources and Environmental Management Project.

Adelina Tarino, mainly known as Bae Inatlawan and the tribe’s chieftain, says that they maintain their coffee trees for five years by removing grasses and weeds. Committed to quality, she emphasizes that this routine grants them a regular and consistent harvest every year.
