The Peterson family has owned and operated Hacienda La Esmeralda since 1967, when Swedish-American banker Rudolph A. Peterson acquired the estate as a retirement venture. In the 1970s-80s, his son Price transitioned the property from cattle ranching to coffee cultivation, building on Boquete's long coffee heritage.

This coffee underwent extended anaerobic fermentation that amplifies its aromatic intensity while preserving remarkable clarity. The result is a luminous profile with jasmine florals, lemon and mandarin citrus, and distinctive lychee notes, resulting in a cup that showcases how deliberate oxygen management can elevate Gesha's inherent delicacy into something transcendent.
