Philippines Agnep Benguet Heritage
Agnep Heritage Coffee is a family-run farm in Sitio Bay-O, Mankayan, Benguet, managed by Noemi Lardizabal-Dado and the Kankanaey farming community. Named after Noemi's late grandmother Lola Agnep, who first planted coffee trees in their backyard, the farm represents a tribute to Benguet's indigenous coffee heritage. It all started with a simple question, “What if we could grow coffee using our great grandmother’s land?”
Fast forward to today, the farm has grown from 1,000 seedlings to 11,000 Arabica trees across 5 hectares of forested land at 1,620 meters above sea level, championing sustainable production using indigenous microorganisms, organic fertilizers, and meticulous hand-picking following Noemi's guiding principle to pick ripe because not all coffee cherries are red.
This lot showcases Orange Bourbon, locally known as Granica, processed through anaerobic dry fermentation where cherries are fermented in sealed, oxygen-free containers without added water. This controlled environment encourages specific microbial activity that produces distinct enzymatic reactions, amplifying the Orange Bourbon's natural fruit-forward characteristics. The result is an expressive cup with pronounced floral aromatics and tropical notes of mango and orange.
